Course Teacher: Pauline Sawyer

This is a 60 hour non-residential Foundation Course taught over five 12 hour weekends. There is a focus on the different parts of the body, learning about anatomy as it applies to asanas (postures), whilst simultaneously working with whole body connections. There is a mix of asana practice and theoretical teaching of anatomy. Throughout the year, the course introduces students to the philosophy of yoga, pranayama (breathing practices) and the bandhas.

Calderdale Yoga Centre

The Calderdale Yoga Centre (CYC), established in November 2009 by Jon Pearson, provides a venue for yoga and personal growth activities in the upper Calder Valley.

The centre is comprised of a spacious hall with a high quality semi-sprung laquered French pine floor. This room has adjustable lighting mounted on beautiful, original, exposed timber beams and trusses.

There is a comfortable changing area, extensive reference library, therapy room and kitchen.
