Year 1: The Structure and Practice of Yoga

GarudasanaThe IYT yoga teacher training foundation course forms Year 1 of our 500 hour Diploma. This course gives you the opportunity to deepen your practice and knowledge of yoga over six non-residential weekends, sometimes five depending on the course location. Our yoga foundation course, which forms Year One: The Practice and Structure of Yoga of the IYT 500 hour diploma, is aimed at helping you explore the idea of becoming a yoga teacher. The Foundation Course is practical and experiential. There is a focus on the different parts of the body, learning about anatomy as it applies to asanas (postures), whilst simultaneously working with whole body connections. There is a mix of asana practice and theoretical teaching of anatomy and resources include a full sized skeleton (plastic of course!)

Pranayama and meditation are also introduced and all aspects of yoga are touched on, as relevant to the people in the group. The course attracts people with a wide variety of both yoga and life experience and this tends to make the groups lively and interesting to be in. Try any weekend as a taster to see if you like the style of teaching and, if you do, you are welcome to register for the course. You can join at any time during the course, making up any missing weekends on another IYT Foundation Course.

Please email enquiries@inneryoga.org.uk if you are interested in a course but none are shown in your area.
