This yoga course is for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 including those with additional support students. The 15 hour course is taught over five mornings over the summer holidays and each morning is for 3 hours from 10.00 am - 1.00 pm.
Each morning will follow a daily programme:
- 50 minutes of postures (asana)
- short break
- 50 minutes of anatomy
- short break
- 50 minutes of postures
- 10 minutes of sitting meditation, mindfulness of body & breath
- 10 minutes for journal writing, reflecting on the teaching and learning.
The course is open to all young people who would like an Introduction to Yoga. No previous experience of yoga is necessary. Participants will be given guidelines for a daily yoga practice at home. The course aims to develop students’ own home practice and to learn basic anatomy and yoga postures.
This is an introduction to the IYT Year 1 Structure and Practice of Yoga Foundation Course (60 contact hours). The course can lead on to further study including progressing on to the IYT 500 hour Teacher Training Diploma.
