Yoga Nidra with Cryn Horn
14th December 2023 6pm – 8pm
The last IYT event of 2023 was with Cryn Horn. It was cold with a deep midwinter feel and Christmas preparation was in the air with people scurrying about shopping and getting ready for the celebrations as the solstice drew near. It was a pleasant break to be able to stop, to enjoy a couple of hours, mostly laying down to listen to Cryn’s words. She began by suggesting we ‘take time out’ to come back to the self and come back home.
As we prepared to lie on the mat with warm blankets, pillows and bolsters or whatever was needed to be comfortable, Cryn began by offering kindness and hope, telling us that this is a time to listen and go deep into the inner body of the self. We began the yoga Nidra and were asked to imagine a dew drop full of sunlight pinpointed along the chakras of the body.
We did several spoken yoga Nidras as Cryn spoke of Peace, Hope and Love. Every time the words are spoken it may sound different than on the first hearing. Cryn talked about the dark moon or the 12th new moon of the dark night on the 8th of December, how the sun stays still until the 17th and from the 27th sunrise, it starts to get lighter after the 5th of January. It was very dark as we approached the shortest solstice days on 22nd December.
It was a beautiful evening of resting and listening with the opportunity to relax and appreciate the stillness of midwinter. A moment to look internally and feel the inner body. Cryn has a gift of storytelling and wisdom and ended with some inspirational poetry.
There is a recording of the evening and if you would like to purchase a copy, please contact administrator@inneryoga.org.uk
